Oppi is about having fun giving. Handmade by Jane Trentham, every item of Oppi babywear is sewn from organic, fair trade or upcycled fabric. With each item of Oppi babywear you buy, we give to Tutela Africa; supporting family-based childcare for Mozambique's orphans and most vulnerable children.

It's personal

Oppi value: Small and personal

Handmade clothing takes longer to make, but is made with absolute care.

Product runs are shorter, but result in uniqueness and high quality.

Raw materials can cost more, but we know where they come from.

There’s no distribution centre, but we’d rather hand-wrap every purchase beautifully.

Keeping things small and personal

We appreciate the benefits of being a small business:

  • Handmade clothing takes longer to make, but is made with absolute care.
  • Product runs are shorter, but result in uniqueness and high quality.
  • Raw materials can cost more, but we know where they come from.
  • There’s no distribution centre, but we’d rather hand-wrap every purchase beautifully.

It began with an idea: to have fun, create, and help people

Jane started Oppi in 2012 because she wanted to have more fun and be more creative.  Her previous trips to poverty-stricken Mozambique had really impacted her. Sewing and design had always inspired her. She had an idea for Oppi and was curious to see if it would work.

From the beginning she knew she'd need some help to move her dream from possibility to reality. Read more about some of her Oppi companions who continue to make this possible.

Starting a new venture took courage, willingness and humility to ask for help. But what excites me is how, through working together, Oppi has inspired others to explore some of their own ideas too.

Opportunity to share expertise and skills is a big part of why I continue. It can be lots of fun being part of each other’s creative adventure!
